Successful cop thriller Knives Out will have a second part.”Glass Bow: Mystery of Knives”, which will premiere on December 23 on Netflix, the streaming service announced in a statement Monday.
If in the first part the main role was played by the Spanish-Cuban actress Ana de Armas, then in the new film the dramatic weight falls on Daniel Craig, who returns to the role of a detective. Benoit Blanc.
In fact, as the saga’s director and screenwriter Rian Johnson previously reported, Craig is the only member who recurs in the cast relative to those cast for the original film.
“In the first one, because of the way it was structured, Martha, Ana de Armas’ character, was the main character. And in this we delve into the mystery through the eyes of Blanc (Daniel Craig),” he explained. Johnson this Monday in a statement to Netflix Tudum, the said platform’s official fan portal.
What is the second part of “Knives Out”?
Plot “Glass Bow: Mystery of Knivesabout a murder that took place on a luxurious Greek island after a billionaire dedicated to the tech sector invited his relatives there for a vacation.
Detective Blanc is in charge of traveling to this private paradise environment to uncover the “layers of mystery” that lie behind the discovery of the lifeless body of one of the guests.
Part of the name, “glass bow”, is a reference to the song of the same name The Beatles which premiered in 1968 and which in this case serves as a metaphor for a crime that may seem complicated, but “is in plain sight”.
“I’m always looking for something funny that Detective Blanc can grab on to. (…) I literally took out my iPhone and looked through my music looking for the word glass (glass),” Johnson said of how the title of this film was decided.
Production and cast
The film’s cast is completed by Janelle Monae (“Moonlight”), Kathryn Hahn (“Private Life”), Leslie Odom Jr (“The Many Saints of Newark”), Jessica Henwick (“The Gray Man”), Madeleine Kline (“The Outer Banks”) ), Kate Hudson (“Almost Famous”) and Dave Bautista (“Army of the Dead”).
The film, which is owned by Netflix, is once again being directed by Ram Bergman (Brick) with Tom Karnowsky (Star Wars Episode VIII – The Last Jedi) as executive producer.
“Glass Bow: Mystery of KnivesThe world premiere will take place at the Toronto Film Festival, which will be held from 8 to 18 September, and will be available to subscribers Netflix starting next December 23rd.
In addition, it will be distributed commercially, at least in the United States, although a release date in the main theaters of the country has not yet been announced.
The second part “Get the knivesIt faces the daunting task of replicating the success of the first installment, which grossed over $300 million on an investment of $40 and was even nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay in 2020.
