The new CEO of the Hollywood Academy, Bill Kramerexpressed his intention to Oscar re-announce the winners of all prizes during the gala concert, instead of handing out figurines of technical nominations an hour before the live broadcast.
Kramer, who first took office last month, said in a Framean Academy magazine that would like to see “all artistic and scientific disciplines honored during the show”, although so far neither the institution nor the network ABC who give out awards confirmed the change.
“We need to produce some Oscar that celebrate the industry working together,” he added.
In the latest edition of awards from 23 categories that make up Oscar8 were announced before the start of the gala concert, when the red carpet ended and the vast majority of the guests had not yet sat down at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles (USA).
A summary of the winners’ reactions was then broadcast during the broadcast.
The categories affected are: Best Documentary, Best Editing, Best Makeup and Hair, Best Design, Best Sound, Best Short Film, Best Animated Short Film, and Best Soundtrack.

Refusal
This decision outraged many, and trade union organizations representing editors, musicians and sound engineers proposed to organize a boycott and suggested that the nominees refuse to be invited to the ceremony.
In 2018, the Academy announced its intention to remove the tech awards from the gala and present them during a commercial break, but decided against doing so after rejection by the film community.
