Actor Rodolfo Beban, Argentine TV heartthrob, has died at the age of 84.

Argentine film, stage, television actor and director Rodolfo Tilly, better known by his stage name as Rudolf Bebandied aged 84, the Argentine Actors Association said this Sunday.

“It is with great pain that we say goodbye to actor and director Rodolfo Beban. His extensive creative career includes memorable work in film, theater and television. In our union since 1962. We accompany your children, relatives and friends in this difficult moment,” the Association published on its social networks.

According to a journalistic report from the America TV channel, the actor spent several years in a nursing home and suffered from a depressive state.

Dissatisfied with this role, he returns to the theater to shine with his acting skills in “Diario de loco”, directed by his own father, Miguel Beban.

He tried his hand at cinema and in 1966 starred in the Argentine-Spanish film “Del arm y por la calle”, although his biggest film success was “Juan Moreira” in 1973, the story of a gaucho who rebelled against the cruel authorities of the 19th century, director Leonardo Favio.

During the 1980s and 1990s he worked regularly on stage, playing leading roles and directing numerous plays. He has also featured in some Argentine soap operas from time to time.

Until 2018, he remained active and close to acting, although in his golden age he was recognized as one of the great leading men of the time, he always had doubts about his personal life.

He was married to actresses Claudia Lapaco – his first wife, with whom he had two children – and Gabriela Ghily, with whom he had three more children and who accompanied him until his death.
