The Golden Globes will be televised again in 2023, as several Hollywood specialist papers expected, citing negotiations between the network NBC and Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), mired in a serious reputational crisis since last year.
According to Hollywood Reporterwhich mentions “high-level” sources, the channel has all but agreed to return the awards ceremony for Tuesday, January 10, although other publications such as Los Angeles Times indicate that the agreement is far from closed.
For their part, neither NBC nor the Golden Globes have confirmed or denied the news.
The television network, which has owned the rights to the Golden Globes since 1996, decided not to broadcast the 2022 gala after hundreds of ad firms on both sides of the Atlantic announced a boycott that Hollywood heavyweights like Research, Warner Brazzers, Netflix D Amazon Studios.
The withdrawal of the awards came as complaints against the HFPA escalated due to questionable ethical practices among its members, such as nominating certain productions in exchange for travel and gifts, or banning other journalists from outside the organization from working.
The straw that broke the camel’s back was that in the middle of the year of racism awareness in the United States, there was not a single black person in the ranks of the association, the number of which hardly exceeded 70 people.
REFORMS IN THE GOLDEN GLOBE
After a dispute in golden globeThe HFPA has included about twenty new members and has implemented a number of reforms that have so far only been implemented in the transfer of its brand to a private company.
A month ago, a majority of its members decided to hand over the management of everything related to premiums to Eldridge Industries LLC, controlled by businessman Todd Boley, who has served as HFPA CEO since last year.
Prior to this, the association operated as a non-profit organization that had a contract that paid NBC $60 million a year to produce the gala.
However, the change of ownership was not without controversy, as the new owner golden globe will have conflicts of interest as a producer of fictional works such as The Ozarks and The Great, and will have stakes in The Hollywood Reporter, a reference publication in the audiovisual industry.
In addition, current HFPA members will receive a salary of $75,000 per year, and those who join voting in future editions to increase diversity will receive no financial compensation. (According to EFE)

Ugly Betty is one of those sweet soap operas that turned ordinary situations into a TV phenomenon. In this episode, we discuss what we like (or dislike) most about the telenovela created by Fernando Gaitan, the villains, the characters, and even reflect on our own lives (as always, you already know us). You don’t listen anymore.
