5 Disney princesses who came straight from royalty

Find out what are the 5 Princesses of the Disney universe who were born in royal families and carry the title from the cradle

When we think of Disney princesses, we soon imagine stunning dresses, magical castles and happy endings. However, not all the characters who carry this title are part of real royalty, because while some become princesses per marriage, others were born directly in real families and grew within palaces, surrounded by traditions and duties of the monarchy.

With that in mind, the playground brought together five princesses who, since birth, were already part of the nobility and carry the title of princess by law in their trajectories.

1. Snow White

Officially the first Disney Princess, Snow White also takes the title already by birth. In the classic animation of 1937, she is the daughter of the king and the queen, which makes her heiress of the throne, however, after losing her parents and being chased by the stepmother, the bad queen, she runs away to the forest, where she finds refuge in her seven dwarfs.

Despite the challenges, Branca keeps his kind and kind essence until he rediscover his happy ending alongside the prince, returning to his post in the kingdom.


2. Jasmine

Unlike many other princesses, Jasmine was born at the Palace of Agabah and has always been a princess since childhood. Sultan’s only daughter, she faces the rigid rules of tradition that would compel her to marry only political interest, but Jasmine does not accept to be treated as a prize.

His history, presented in ‘Aladdin’, shows a young woman who fights for her freedom, without giving up her rights as a future leader of her people.


3. Merida

Protagonist of ‘Valente’, Merida is a princess of blood, daughter of King Fergus and Queen Elinor, leaders of the clans of the highlands of Scotland. Unlike traditional princesses, she completely rejects the standards imposed on her position, especially with regard to arranged marriages.

Brave and owner of an impeccable target with his bow and arrow, Merida was one of the studio’s first princesses challenging traditions and fighting to walk her own way without giving up her title or her freedom.


4. Ariel

Ariel, in ‘The Little Mermaid’ – Reproduction/Disney

Daughter of King Triton, sovereign of the Seven Seas, and the Atlantis Atlantis Queen, Ariel has also been a princess since she was born, as we know in the animation ‘The Little Mermaid’. The young mermaid, who dreams of living in the human world and questions her father’s rules, is guided by her desire for freedom to make a deal with Ursula, the witch of the sea, leading her to the surface.

Ariel keeps his real title under both water and when he chooses to live among humans, as he marries Prince Eric.


5. Rapunzel

Daughter of the kings of Corona, Rapunzel was born a princess, but was kidnapped as a baby by “Mama Gothel”, the villain of the animation that wanted the magical powers of the girl’s hair. Created isolated in a tower, she grew up without knowing her true origin.

Years later, by fleeing answers, Rapunzel discovers that she is the missing princess and returns to her kingdom, meeting her parents and taking her place in royalty.
