The sequel to the hugely popular Spanish series, currently in production, will have eight episodes and will feature some of the original cast.

The first version U:n paso adelante: – under its original title – told the story of a group of dance and theater students in Madrid, caught up in an intrigue that combines ambitions, friendships, rivalries and love stories. The series, which aired for six seasons between 2002 and 2005, was a resounding success internationally, being exported to 54 countries, including France.

It’s really a sequel that’s currently being filmed. The plot will take place at the Carmen Arants School of Performing Arts. The characters of Lola (Beatriz Luengo), Roberto (Miguel Angel Muñoz) and Sylvia (Monica Cruz), three of the early protagonists, will be there. Now teachers at the school, they will be joined by two new members of the teaching staff, Luiso (Lucas Velasco) and Sira (Marta Guerras). Lola Herrera, who plays Carmen Arantz, is expected to make an appearance.
Suspense and a musical
More than fifteen years have passed and Roberto returns from the US with the idea of staging a great musical about the old successes of the UPA. Together with Sylvia and Lola, they will start the school entrance exams, in which a new group of students will participate. Silvia has become the school’s principal after Carmen’s retirement, but business is not going well and tensions with her colleagues have caused her to become estranged from everyone. Meanwhile, Lola has two daughters who live with their father in Barcelona, with whom she shares custody. Due to disagreements with Sylvia, he left school and continues to teach dance. He will be back to collaborate on the UPA musical with a view to show that he is still a star.
The cast includes the new students of the school: Quique Gonzalez (Omar), Monica Mara (Andrea), Mark Betriu (Luca), Claudia Lachispa (Elvira), Almudena Salort (Lala Lazi), Mark Soler (Sergio), Karina. Soro (Tara), Alex Medina (Suso) and Nuno Gallego (Dario).
The release date is still unknown, only the end of the teaser mentions that the first episodes will arrive very soon, probably in 2022.
