The actress played Sam Pucket in the Nickelodeon sitcons ‘iCarly’ and ‘Sam and Cat’
Jennette McCurdya former actress popularly known for playing Sam Pucket on the Nickelodeon sitcom ‘iCarly’, gave details about her autobiographical book “I’m glad my mom died” in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
In the chat, McCurdy reported that the work addresses the obstacles she faced during her childhood after being included in the world of stardom by her mother when she was only 6 years old.
The artist revealed that her mother “pushed” her to become a star in Nickelodeon productions and that all the family pressure to be in showbiz, had her dealing with difficulties such as anxiety disorder and eating disorders for years.
Also, at about 10 or 11 years old, McCurdy had already become “the main financial support for my family”, as revealed in 2021 on the podcast ‘Empty Inside’, in conversation with the actress Anna Faris.
Thus, writing about her experience, the actress revealed that the book is a way to encourage others and young people to take a stand even in adverse conditions:
I feel like I didn’t have the tools, language, or support I needed to speak for myself back then, so this book is a way to not only honor that experience and give voice to my old self, but I hope to encourage young people to speak up for themselves in environments where they can be conditioned to just ‘play ball’ and ‘be good at sports.’”
McCudy stopped acting after the death of his mother due to the development of cancer, so his last work on the small screen was in the spin-off series of ‘iCarly’ and ‘Victorious’ entitled ‘Sam and Cat’ in 2013.
