Already renewed for season three, see what we can expect from the new episodes of the adapted series of ‘The Last of Us’
Last Sunday, 25th, the last episode of the second season of “The Last of Us”, HBO series that adapts the events of the eponymous game published by developer Naugthy Dog, was aired, being starred by Pedro Pascal (Joel) and Bella Ramsey (Ellie).
Although the last chapter has divided opinions among fans, no need to worry, as a continuation is already confirmed. This is because, in April this year, HBO confirmed that the franchise is officially renewed for its third season – which so far has no premiere yet.

However, in a recent interview with Collider, the production co-creator, Craig Mazinhe revealed the first details for the next episodes, saying that “there is a good chance that the third season will be longer than the second, simply because the form of this narrative and the opportunities it offers us is a little different.”
In addition, the director and screenwriter points out that Joel’s fate was so impactful that it becomes “hard to get away from her. We can’t really take a break and get away to make a story of Bill and Frank. I’m not sure if this will necessarily be true for season three. I think we’ll have a little more space there. But certainly there is no way to complete this narrative in a third season. In a fourth. That is the most likely result.
But what can we expect from season 3?
[CUIDADO! O TEXTO A SEGUIR CONTÉM SPOILERS]
First of all, it is important to remember that both the second and the third, adapt the events of “The Last of Us Part II” and, as revealed by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmannthe new episodes should be faithful to the events of the game, especially from the perspective of Abby (Kaitlyn Duty), who should assume the role of protagonist.
During the game, after Abby finds the group’s hiding place, she enters a dispute with Tommy (Gabriel Luna), who ends up losing an eye, and shoots Jesse (Young Mazino), who dies. Then she keeps Ellie at her sights, when the story undergoes a temporal change, returning to three days earlier at the beginning of the adventure in Seattle.
After the plot returns to the event in the theater, Abby ends up deciding to save Ellie’s life when she finds out about Dina’s pregnancy (Isabela Merced), and let the couple return home together. With this, the game suffers a new time jump of a year, where we see Ellie still unhappy with the events of the past, and choosing to hunt the opponent again.
Already from Abby’s perspective, we see the character being rescued by Lev and Yara, brothers who belong to the Serafites, with whom she develops a strong connection. The final clash between the girl and Ellie, however, happens when they arrive in California, in a violent fight that makes the character lived by Bella Ramsey loses two fingers.
In the end, Ellie wins the fight and has the opportunity to kill Abby and finally take revenge on everything the girl has done. However, the protagonist remembers everything she has spent with Joel, and decides to spare her life, making the plot end with each one following their way.
