What is Joel’s fate in the game ‘The Last of Us Part II’?

The second season of ‘The Last of Us’ has the days told to debut! So when they arrive at the hospital in Salt Lake City and he discovers that Ellie would be killed in an attempt to save all humanity, Joel ends up killing all the fireflies he finds along the way and takes Ellie far away from the place to save the life of the girl who had become so important to him.
