But did you know that even the 1937 animation has differences in the tale that inspired its creation? It turns out that when a story is recounting, especially in another format, it is common for it to undergo modifications to better adapt to the historical context of the time, or even to bring news to a narrative already known for centuries.

In the case of “The Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” was no different, after all, the plot was inspired by the tale of Grimm BrothersLaunched in 1812, leading Disney to make different creative choices from those found in the original work. Check out 5 differences between what is seen on the pages and screens:

1. The original villain of Snow White was another

In the animation, the antagonist of the story is Snow White’s stepmother, the bad queen, who wants to be the most beautiful in the whole kingdom and reveals to be willing to do anything for it, after all, when the magic mirror reveals that the stepdaughter now occupies the most beauty post, she draws plans to end the life of the princess.

However, in the history of Grimm BrothersAlthough the idea remains, the bad queen is not a stepmother of Snow White, but in fact the girl’s own mother.

2. Snow White was much younger

The animated title features Snow White as a 14 -year -old girl, as revealed in promotional materials in the movie, making her the younger Disney princess. Still, if the age were the same as the tale, the girl would be only 7 years old, after all, it is at this age that she has her life hunted by her maternal figure, as determined by the Screenrant Portal.

3. The presentation of the dwarfs is quite different

When the hunter that the bad queen chooses to kill Snow White chooses to save her life girl, she ends up running to the forest and finding a house where seven dwarfs lived. In the 1930s movie, when the princess enters her home, she sees messy and dirty rooms, making her have a huge job to put everything in order. Tired, she brings together the dwarf beds and ends up falling asleep upon them, waking up only when the owners of the place come and find out who straightened everything inside her residence.

Already in the tale, the story resembles the narrative of “Golden Cacinhos”. This is because, by entering the place, everything is tidy and white of snow eats some food from each of the dishes of the dwarfs, drinks some wine from each of their cups and tests each of their beds before falling asleep, leaving the dwarves horrified to find that someone was at home, although eventually they forgive her and allow her to live with them.

4. It is not a kiss that saves snow white

When the bad queen discovers that Snow White remains alive, she uses black magic to create the poisoned apple in “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”, whose spell that would leave the unconscious girl could only be broken by the first kiss of true love, which is given by the enchanted prince.

In the plot of GrimmTo wake up, Snow White just has to dispose of the poisoned piece of apple stuck in his throat. For this, the latest editions of the tale reveal that the prince kept Snow White always by his side asking his servants to carry the princess’s coffin where he went, and on one occasion a servant stumbles making the coffin shake enough for the apple to come off the girl’s throat.

5. The death of the bad queen is even darker

In the feature film, when the dwarfs discover what the bad queen did to Snow White, they chase the villain to a cliff. There she tries to overthrow a stone over them, but lightning hits the cliff causing him to crumble and the queen rings toward death.

Already on the pages, Queen Bad thinks her Snow White Killing Plan with the poisoned apple worked. However, when asking the mirror again if there is someone whose beauty is superior to hers, he reveals that the future bride of the prince is more beautiful than her. Not knowing who the girl was, she goes to the wedding and finds that the bride is Snow White. Soon after, the queen is ordered to pay for murder attempts with the punishment of dancing wearing red -old iron shoes until she dies.
