The group lives in the face of legal actions against its former agency, the ador, Hybe’s subsidiary, involving the departure of Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein of the label in mid -November 2024, when they decided not to complete their respective exclusive contracts.
The decision came after a series of events after the agency’s former CEO left, Min hee jinwhich resulted in allegations of poor management, bullying in the workplace and media defamation, culminating in the termination of the contract due to the non -response of the ador to rectify the alleged violations of duty requested by the group in the same month.
The quintet also revealed that it would open a lawsuit to recover the name of the formation and continue its activities as an independent group, which was followed by opening a contest in the new profile of the Instagram, found under user @njz_official (formerly @jeanzforree), which was created with the purpose of defining the new name that Newjeans will temporarily use until the end of the process (NJZ).
As a result, the ador also filed a lawsuit to confirm the validity of the exclusivity contract, as well as stating that the contract with the members remains valid, lamenting the group’s decision to follow parallel activities with a new name before receiving the legal trial.
The first hearing is expected to take place for both parties on April 3 at the 41st Division of Civil Agreements of the District Court of Seoul, in South Korea.
