5 K-drama couples who fell in love in real life

Meet some famous K-drama couples who went beyond the small screen and also fell in love in real life

Have you ever watched a film or series where the main couple has so much chemistry that it generates suspicions that they may also have a relationship off-screen? As incredible as it may seem, this type of thinking may be more common than many imagine.

In K-dramas, for example, there have been countless rumors about possible relationships between protagonists due to their chemistry in front of the cameras, as recently happened with Yoo Yeon Seok and Chae Soo Bin from “When the Phone Rings”.

Despite being grateful that countless fans supported the couple, in an interview held at the headquarters of King Kong by Starship, stating that it was “a compliment to our chemistry”, Yeon Seok denied that he and Soo Bin they would be dating in real life, declaring that they were just colleagues.

As of 2021, rumors about a possible end of the relationship began to circulate in the South Korean media. The end was only confirmed in November 2023 by the artists’ companies.


3. Nam Joo Hyuk and Lee Sung Kyung (Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo)

Protagonists of “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo”, a K-drama released in 2016, Joo Hyuk and Sung Kyung They met years before, when they were still models. Rumors of a possible relationship emerged in April 2017, after paparazzi released photos of the two together on a date the previous year.

On April 24, the companies responsible for them confirmed their relationship, stating that the couple developed their feelings during the recording of “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo”. Despite being extremely celebrated by fans, the relationship did not last long, and in August of the same year, just four months later, the end was announced.


4. Ki Tae Young and Eugene (Creating Destiny)

The beloved couple Ki Tae Young and Eugene (former member of SES) met during the recording of the k-drama “Creating Destiny” (2009), however, according to Tae Young in an interview with the program “Life Bar”, it took them around four months to become interested in each other, when they got closer and started a relationship.

Despite hiding their relationship for a while, the lovebirds confirmed that they were together and announced their marriage in 2011. They currently remain together and are parents to two little girls: Rohee and Rorin.


5. Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin (Landing in Love)

Considered by many to be an important production for those who want to follow k-dramas, the set of “Pousando no Amor” was responsible for the beginning of the relationship between Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin. The couple was revealed by Dispatch at the turn of the year 2020 to 2021, with the relationship confirmed by the artists’ companies on January 1st.

In February 2022, the lovebirds announced their wedding, with the lavish private ceremony taking place in March of the same year in Seoul, South Korea. In November of the same year, Hyun Bin and Ye Jin became parents to an adorable boy.
