After all, how was Narnia created?

Discover the true origin of the magical world of Narnia, which did not appear in Disney’s adaptations of ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’

Since the release of his first book in 1950, the franchise of “The Chronicles of Narnia”, by the Irish author CS Lewisbecame a hit in children’s literature. The title became even more popular in the mid-2000s, when Disney adapted three of the seven books for film: “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” (2005), “Prince Caspian” (2008) and “ The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” (2010).

Unfortunately, due to the poor performance of the second and third film, the other four books did not have the chance to receive adaptations, meaning that the public who followed the work only on screen did not discover important points of the saga, such as the origin of the magical world of Narnia.

After all, how did Narnia come about?

First of all, it is necessary to understand that the World of Narnia, or just the Narnian World, exists in parallel to ours, but can be accessed through magical passages. Through the book “O Sobrinho do Mago”, the penultimate to be released, but the first in chronological order, we discover that, in fact, the universe is made up of several different worlds, with all connected by a place known as “Bosque Entre Mundos ”.

Despite having the appearance of a forest, the place is not another world, serving only as a passage between universes, but containing trees that communicate and have magical properties that bewitch anyone who passes through the region. There, it is possible to find a series of small pools of water, which are portals to other worlds, including the passage to what would be Narnia.

In the book, we meet Digory, a boy who moved with his uncle and aunt to a neighborhood in London, England, and used to get involved in the studies of his uncle André, a magic researcher who developed magical rings capable of transporting any living being to the curious Wood. Between Worlds.

The boy then ends up making friends with his new neighbor, Polly, and the pair of children become the first human guinea pigs for André’s experiment, heading directly to the woods. There, they discover that, with the rings, the two could visit any universe through the lakes, starting their adventure in the World of Charn, where they meet Jadis, the White Witch.

Proving that her evil intentions existed from the beginning, Jadis had destroyed her home world, and ended up being taken alongside Polly and Digory to England — where the sorceress, again, caused discord, believing that everyone in London needed to be submissive to she.

To try to stop the villain, the two children manage to take her back to Bosque Entre Mundos, however, they also accidentally take three other living beings: Uncle André, a coachman called Franco and his horse Morango. In the midst of the confusion, while trying to direct Jadis to Charn’s portal, the animal ends up drinking water from the puddle to another world, taking the entire group to the other universe.

When moving to the new location, the six characters find an empty world, without any type of light, vegetation or life. While waiting in the middle of the darkness, they hear a song — and immediately a new universe begins to be created.

During the emergence of colors, sky, sun, and the most different forms of life, they realize that everything that was being created appears through the creature that sang the curious song: a majestic lion, known as Aslan. While still developing the magical world, Jadis tries to attack the feline with an iron bar that she had stolen from London, but fails, leaving the item stuck in the ground, causing a lamppost to grow, and then running away.

The region of the post becomes known as Ermo do Lampião, being recognized as the place that marks the creation of Narnia, and also becoming important to indicate some borders of the kingdom, presenting great relevance to events in the other books.

When finished, the creator selects some animals to have the ability to speak, decreeing that Narnia would be the home of all magical beings. On the same day, Aslan anoints the first two kings of the kingdom: the coachman Franco and his wife Helena, brought through his magic from England to the new universe.

With the choice of rulers, the powerful lion also created the first laws, differentiating speaking animals from normal ones, where he said that animals that did not speak could be hunted for food and used as transport, while those that had the ability to speak should be respected. as individuals, making the murder of a talking animal a heinous crime.

Aware that Jadis had invaded his new land, as a last action, Aslan sends Digory on a mission in the wild west beyond the country of Narnia, where he needed to retrieve a magical apple from a garden. The boy fulfills the challenge and takes the fruit to the lion, who plants it next to the river, where a tree immediately grows that would protect the region from the witch for many centuries.

As a reward for the boy, Aslan allows the young man to take one of the apples from the new tree home so he can cure his sick mother. After returning to England, he gives the fruit to his wife, but keeps the seeds, planting them in his garden, causing a large and beautiful apple tree to grow.

Years later, still in the human world, the same tree ended up being felled by a storm. Digory, as an adult, did not want to let go of it, and used its wood to build a wardrobe, unintentionally creating a new passage to Narnia that, in the future, would take Pedro, Susana, Edmundo and Lúcia Pevensie to the magical world.
