IT WILL BE? In an interview with Billboard, Jenniefrom BLACKPINK, spoke about his new phase as a solo artist and the challenges surrounding the release of his long-awaited album. During the conversation, the singer was asked about her independent record label, ODDATELIER, and the possibility of signing new artists. However, demonstrating that she is completely focused on the present moment, immersed in creating her own sound, the singer made it clear that her absolute priority at the moment is the album she is working on.
“I’ve been getting this question left and right, and my answer is ‘Please, I’m so busy on this album. Let’s not even put my brain on that path yet,’” he commented.
The singer also reflected on the importance of ODDATELIER in her career, and how the idea of creating the record label came naturally. In 2023, during BLACKPINK’s tour, Jennie began listing his personal goals, one of them being to release a solo album and explore his creative identity more deeply. “I wanted to satisfy myself by achieving this goal”, she explained, reinforcing that the creation of the record label was a way of working alongside a team that shared her vision and supported her on her solo journey.
Jennie also highlighted that the process of creating the album has not been easy. The search for the ideal sound, which culminated in the release of the single “Mantra”, was a challenging experience. She acknowledged that the work involved was much more demanding than expected, but her dedication to the project has been total.
“I didn’t want to be forced to put a song on my album,” she said.
With the focus entirely on launching your personal project and building your artistic identity, Jennie said she was excited about the freedom to make decisions on her own. Although the process of being in charge of your career can be daunting at times, the singer sees it as a source of personal fulfillment.
ODDATELIER, his independent record label, emerges as a reflection of his desire to follow his own terms and transform his artistic vision into reality, in no rush to expand into other projects at the moment.
