Before KickFlip, JYP Entertainment has already debuted major artists in the K-pop industry. Remember some!
Last weekend, JYP Entertainment released the pre-release single for KickFlip, the company’s new boy group that has its debut scheduled for January 20th with the album “Flip it, Kick it!”. Watch the video for the track “Umm Great”!
Before the arrival of KickFlip, JYP was also home to many great artists. In the market since 1997, the agency is considered one of the “Big 3”, the three main entertainment companies in South Korea, also comprising YG Entertainment and SM Entertainment.
Today, among its main artists, we can mention names like TWICE, Stray Kids, 2PM, NMIXX, ITZY, NiziU and much more. With this in mind, RECREIO has put together a list of some other big names in the industry who have already worked for JYP Entertainment, but who are now with other agencies.
1. Rain
The soloist rainowner of the hit “Rainism”, made his dream debut in 2002, as an artist for JYP Entertainment, when he released the album “Bad Guy”. Five years after his debut, in 2007, the artist announced that he was leaving the company to create his own agency, J. Tune Entertainment, which, in 2010, also became part of the JYP label. In 2015, he created a new company, RAIN Company, where he remains today.
2. Wonder Girls

On February 13, 2007, JYP launched its first girl group, Wonder Girls, which, over the years, has included the following members: Yubin, Yeeun, Sunye, Sunmi, Hyuna, Sohee and Hyerim. With a huge list of hits, the group announced their separation in 2017. Today, none of the members are in the company anymore.
3. miss A

Being one of the great successes of the second generation, miss A made its long-awaited debut in July 2010, consisting of four members: Fei, Jia, Min and Suzy. In 2016, Jia announced his departure from the group, followed by Min in November 2017. In December of the same year, the band’s disbandment was confirmed. All members have already left the company.
4. 2AM

After the split of the group “One Day”, which was supposed to debut the winners of the survival show “Hot Blood Men”, it was created from 2AM, which debuted in July 2008, formed by Jo Kwon, Changmin, Seulong and Jinwoon. Between 2010 and 2014, the group was also co-managed by BigHit Entertainment, the company that created BTS. In 2015, Changmin, Seulong and Jinwoon left JYP, followed by Jo Kwon in 2017. Despite no longer being part of the company, the group did not separate and remains together.
5. GOT7

Formed by Jay B, Mark, Jackson, Jinyoung, Youngjae, BamBam and YugyeomGOT7 debuted on January 16, 2014 under JYP Entertainment, with the album “Got it?”. In January 2021, with the end of their contracts, all seven members left the company, however, they maintained the group’s brand rights and remain together to this day.
