Billy Idol’s Extensive Career
William Broad took his stage name billy idol, going through their first group, formed in 1976. He then formed the punk band Generation X, influenced by the Sex Pistols, of whom he was a follower. He released three studio albums with his band before their breakup in 1981.
In the 80s, Idol moved to New York where his first solo album became a big hit with songs like “Dancing With Myself” or “White Wedding”. His second album “Rebel Yell” in 1984 cemented his worldwide success with classics such as “Eyes Without a Face”, “Flesh for Fantasy” or the single “Rebel Yell”.
Several years later and after overcoming some health problems, billy idol he returned to the studio in 2014 to record the album Kings & Queens of the Underground. In 2020, he recorded the collaboration Night Crawling with Miley Cyrus for her album Plastic Hearts.
This year, billy idol will perform at the Rock in Rio festival on September 9 along with artists such as Green Day, Iron Maiden and Megadeth.
