Christopher Nolan to direct Homer’s epic Odyssey

British director Christopher Nolan is working on a large-scale film adaptation Odyssey Homer. Universal Pictures announced it on December 23, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film tells the story of Odysseus’ journey to his native Ithaca after the end of the Trojan War. Filmed using IMAX technology, this fictional action epic promises to wow audiences with its scale and detail. Nolan wrote the script for the film himself.

The film is set for release on July 17, 2026. Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Anne Gateway and Charlize Theron have already joined the cast.

Odyssey is one of Homer’s most famous epic poems, written in the 8th century BC. Its plot is full of adventures, mythical creatures and divine intervention, which will be a new challenge for Nolan, who has previously worked on historical projects, for example (Oppenheimer) or science fiction projects ( Interstellar).
