With the end of the year atmosphere, the famous retrospectives appear, where it is possible to revisit moments that marked the almost 365 days already running in 2024 — and of course RECREIO would not be left out of this tradition, after all, there were several titles released in the streaming and TV news this year, providing updates on filming, casting and recording processes, as well as various curiosities.

With this in mind, the editorial team got together and selected 5 of the films and series released this year and covered by RECREIO that could easily join our list of favorites; Check out which ones were selected in random order below:

1. Wicked

Adaptation of the 2003 Broadway musical of the same name inspired by the book released by Gregory Maguire in 1995, “Wicked” debuted on screens on November 21 for the first time, the story of what happened in Oz before what is presented in “The Wizard of Oz” , a work that appeared in 1900 as a book written by L. Frank Baum.

For that, Cynthia Erivo like Elphaba, a green-skinned witch who still doesn’t know her real power and is misunderstood by those around her, and Ariana Grande as Glinda, also a witch whose personality is opposed to Elphaba’s, as she is popular and ambitious. The two develop an unlikely friendship when they become roommates at Shiz University.

However, when a problem with anthropomorphic animals begins to grow and Elphaba decides to travel after the Wizard in search of help, everything will change between them, as the events and choices they make on this trip will result in the way Doroty will meet them in the future. : as the Wicked Witch of the West and Good Witch of the South, respectively.

2. Inside Out 2

In “Inside Out 2”, a direct sequel to the film released in 2015 by Disney and Pixar, Riley has just turned 13! With her birthday, she receives four new emotions as a gift: Envy, Boredom, Shame and Anxiety, which, when combined with the primary emotions already known to the public, will bring even more confusion to the girl’s head.

This is because Riley, who is facing the onset of puberty, needs to deal with the information that her two best friends are changing schools, increasing the pressure on her to make new friends before the two leave and manage to earn a place on the hockey team. as you always wanted. So, while emotions try to protect them from the chaos that is managing all this news, a new crisis in the control room will be created.

3. Wild Robot

From DreamWorks, “Wild Robot” adapts the book of the same name by Peter Brownfeaturing the ROZZUM robot from unit 7134, which after a shipwreck ends up on an island inhabited only by animals — which see it as an enemy being and sometimes try to eliminate it.

In the hostile territory, ROZ, as she will be called, ends up learning to create relationships and understand the animals that live there, even becoming the maternal figure of an orphan goose who will learn from her and a fox called Astuto how to live.

4. Penguin

Spin-off of “Batman”, film by Matt Reeves released in 2023, the “Penguin” series follows the events presented on the big screen, as it follows the antagonist, whose identity is Oswald Cobblepot, entering the underworld of Gotham City, as after the fall of the Carmines, he traces a trajectory towards power and social prestige that he always craved.

The production has eight episodes and is available to Max subscribers.

5. Mufasa: The Lion King

Also from the Disney label, “Mufasa: The Lion King” is a prequel to the live-action “The Lion King”, released in 2019. This is because the plot follows Mufasa, Simba’s father, since he was a cub, following his rise, the title of king of the savanna and the events that culminated in the known relationship with Scar, who was born with another name: Taka.

In the film, the story takes shape through flashbacks as the wise and magic-savvy monkey, Rafiki, recalls the lion’s legacy to Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala.
