From hero games to movie blockbusters; Discover the main games in the franchise, which has just gained another title, with LEGO Horizon Adventures!
The recently released LEGO Horizon Adventures (PS5) enchanted many fans not only because of the gameplay styles that LEGO games provide, but also because many players identify with the Horizon franchise. The new game is an adaptation of the story of the famous PlayStation franchise and includes moments and references from Horizon Call of the Mountain, Horizon Forbidden West and Horizon Zero Dawn.
Created by the Guerrilla Games studio, responsible for the acclaimed series, and Studio Gobo, which worked in collaboration with the LEGO team, the latest release is an action-adventure game full of combat and exciting exploration. In it, players can also be creative by customizing the village of Coração da Mãe with LEGO bricks, decorating their houses in whatever way they find most interesting.
How did the LEGO franchise games come about?
It is a fact that it all started with the famous building toy, in Denmark in the 1930s. But the history of LEGO games in video games is not recent either, and has followed the evolution of the industry over the years.
LEGO’s arrival in the gaming universe began in 1999, with LEGO Racers, a game released on the first PlayStation. The launch of adapted franchises came a few years later, in 2005, with LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game, on PlayStation 2. The famous toy received several other adaptations later, including heroes from Marvel and DC Comics, characters from Indiana Jones and even even their own films in the universe of pieces to assemble.
In the PlayStation 3 generation alone, there were 20 releases, and this was definitely the console that received the most LEGO titles for the public. Currently, there are several gameplay options involving LEGO, and the games include all fans of pop culture and other famous series in the entertainment universe, such as Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and Jurassic Park.

1. Latest Release (PS5): LEGO Horizon Adventures
Released for PlayStation 5, the game is the most recent release in the franchise, and has five difficulty levels. Aloy, the protagonist, and the game’s central world can be extensively customized in ways never before seen in LEGO series. The game features a cooperative multiplayer mode for two players that becomes available after completing the prologue.

2. LEGO Star Wars II: the Trilogy
Sequel to the 2005 game, LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game, which was well received at the time, despite criticism from the community, had a sequel that exceeded expectations. LEGO Star Wars II: The Triology brought the story of the films A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, with camera improvements, signature LEGO humor and nostalgia. The game has accumulated more than 7.2 million copies sold worldwide.

3. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes
With TT Games being owned by Warner Bros., it was assumed that getting the Disney likeness rights wouldn’t happen for the LEGO games. However, this theory was not proven when LEGO Marvel Super Heroes arrived on the scene. The title was highly acclaimed on the PlayStation 3, opting not to use the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) films that had been released up to that point, and went the route of telling an “original” story that allowed for the inclusion of many characters from the Marvel to unite against Galactus, the villain of the story in the game. With more than 170 heroes and villains available, a New York very well adapted to the LEGO universe, the president of Warner Bros. interactiveentertainment, David Haddadstated in an interview with VentureBeat in 2017, that Lego Marvel Super Heroes had been the best-selling LEGO game of all time.

4. LEGO The Lord of the Rings
Based on the films by Peter Jackson and the best-selling books by JR TolkienLEGO The Lord of the Rings showcased the fellowship’s epic journey through Middle-earth. The game features different levels representing all the films from the famous work and an open world hub between missions that allows players to choose which part of the brotherhood to play in. Released on the PlayStation 3 generation, the game has some gameplay aspects not present in previous titles, such as additional actions in combat and stealth.
Its successor, LEGO The Hobbit, is on sale at the PlayStation Store for R$71.50, and free of charge for PlayStation players who have the PlayStation Plus Extra plan.
5. LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes
Also released for PlayStation 3, the game is an improved sequel to the first game in almost every aspect. The title presents a Gotham City that brought other characters from the DC Universe to help Batman defeat the Joker and Lex Luthor. It also presents players with excellent voice acting that enhanced the gameplay experience at the time.
