CALL FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA
His role in Brian’s Song convinced Coppola to cast him in The Godfather the following year. The director and actor had previously worked together on The People of Rian (1969), but the producers cut his screen appearances because they doubted his acting skills.
After he convinced the world of his talent for celluloid, such works as Rollerball (1975), A Bridge Too Far (1977) and The Thief (1981) appeared, about which he himself came to say what exactly the game he was most proud of. Among the roles he turned down were iconic films such as Star Wars and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
