The developers of STALKER 2: The Heart of Chernobyl are in negotiations with Netflix about creating a series based on the popular game.
The Ukrainian company GSC Game World, which created the legendary series of STALKER games, can reach a new level of popularity.
The developers are in negotiations with Netflix on the film adaptation of STALKER 2: The Heart of Chernobyl.
Maxim Krippa, owner of NAVI, Maincast and GSC Game World, spoke about this in an interview with Forbes Ukraine. He compared the potential of the STALKER franchise to the Polish The Witcher, which became a cultural phenomenon thanks to the Netflix series.
“I would like us to get a series on Netflix. Currently, some negotiations are underway, but the issue has not been resolved,” said Crippa.
He also shared that the development of STALKER 2 has already recovered tens of millions of dollars of investment and is already profitable. About 470 people worked on the game, including 270 Ukrainian developers who continued to work even during the war.
“We sold enough to make the project profitable. Before the release, the team worked almost 24/7 for this project, especially with the backdrop of the war all Ukrainians can do projects of such high level, – said Crippa.
We remind you that STALKER 2: The Heart of Chernobyl was released on November 20, 2024. Within two days, the game reached the mark of one million copies sold and topped the sales charts in many countries.
It was previously reported that Grigory Baklanov, known for his role in the TV series To Catch Kaidash, has become part of the cult gaming universe STALKER 2.
