What songs introduced NewJeans to the world of K-pop?

Discover which artists and songs caught the attention of Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein, from NewJeans, in the k-pop genre

In addition to being singers of the genre, K-pop stars are also big fans of the artists they compete against in awards shows or those who came up in different generations to theirs, as many of them made them discover the music and remain fans, as NewJeans revealed in an interview with Spotify in 2022 (via Koreaboo), where Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein They told us which were the first songs sung by idols that they heard in their lives.

Hanni

As the song that introduced her to South Korean pop music, Hanni named “I GOT A BOY”, from Girls’ Generation’s fourth studio album of the same name, released in 2013.

Hanni also said that “eight”, by UI and “What is Love?” by TWICE are the songs that made her continue listening to the genre, but she did not select a specific artist that she could talk about endlessly, stating that K-pop itself would be the correct choice, in addition to saying that the track she wanted more people to love is “Love Countdown” by Nayeonby TWICE.

She also said that “Talk that Talk” by TWICE, “WORLD” by SEVENTEEN and “Forever 1” by Girls’ Generation were the songs she liked most. was listening to, as well as choosing “Hype Boy” by NewJeans as the track I could listen to forever.

Hyein

In case of Hyeinthe song that made her interested in K-pop was “What is Love?”, from the album of the same name released by TWICE in 2018.

Minji

“I Need U”, by BTS, was the song that caught the attention of Minji for the genre. The song is from the album “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part 1”, released in 2015.

The song chosen as the one that made her continue to admire K-pop was “UGLY” and “I Don’t Care” by 2NE1 — a group she also named as the one she wouldn’t get tired of talking about.

Meanwhile, “Roller Coaster” by Chunghais the song she would never tire of listening to, and the NewJeans tracks “Hurt” and “Attention” are the ones she thinks deserved to get the most love and the one she can’t stop listening to, respectively.
