Coupang Play releases first images of its new K-drama “Newtopia”, starring BLACKPINK’s Jisoo and actor Park Jung Min; Check it out!
Korean film and series production company Coupang Play has released the first footage of its new zombie k-drama “Newtopia.” Starring Jisoomember of the girl group BLACKPINK, and the actor Park Jungminthe series, which takes place in an alternate Seoul taken over by an unknown zombie virus, will tell the story of Jae Yoon (Park Jungmin), who is serving in the military, and his girlfriend Young Joo (Jisoo), as they run towards each other through the contaminated city.
The plot unfolds in the dangerous situations that Jae Yoon faces in a high tower in the center of Seoul, where his unit is located and the zombies have taken control, increasing the adrenaline of the episodes. Meanwhile, Young Joo, on the streets of Gangnam, faces the threat of having the gang of zombies approaching her. The story is intended to make viewers wonder if the couple, whose bond grows stronger despite the distance, will survive together until the end.
“Newtopia” is directed by Yoon Sung-hyunknown for directing the films “Bleak Night” (2011) and “Time to Hunt” (2020), is also co-written by Han Jin-wonwho directed the Oscar-winning film “Parasite” (2019), and Ji Ho-jinknown for writing the Disney+ series “A Shop for Killers.”
The series also marks the return of Jisoo to the role of a leading lady after JTBC drama “Snowdrop” in 2021. She dedicated the year 2024 entirely to her individual works.
In the photos released, we can see a little of the BLACKPINK star’s chemistry with Park Jungmin, starting with the main characters’ happy moments and eventually moving to a world chaotic by zombie contamination. Check it out!








“Newtopia” premieres on February 7th next year on Coupang Play, in South Korea and for foreign viewers, the series will be available on Prime Video.
