Discover which female and male K-pop lineups left a mark in the year 2024 with their debut works
With 20 days until the start of a new year, 2024 is already coming to an end! Over the last 12 months, K-pop fans have been treated not only to comebacks filled with releases and various promotional activities from their favorite groups, but they have also been able to closely follow the debut of new formations, both male and female.
Inserted in the fifth generation of the genre, these formations would emerge from different entertainment companies and presented new concepts through singles and albums promoted at specific moments over the past 300 days.
With this in mind, RECREIO put together a list of 5 debuts that marked the year 2024; look:
5. KATSEYE
Managed by Geffen Records and HYBE, KATSEYE is an international group composed of Sofiafrom the Philippines; Manonfrom Switzerland; Danielafrom the United States; Larafrom the United States; Meganfrom Hawaii and Yoonchaefrom South Korea.
The formation debuted on June 28, 2024 “Debut”, single from the EP “SIS” (Soft is Strong); remember the MV!
4. MEOVV
THEBLACKLABEL’s first girl group, MEOVV is composed of Gawon, Sooin, Anna, Narin and Ella. The group also signed with Capitol Records and debuted on August 6 with the single “MEOW”.
3. ILLIT
With Yunah, Minju, Moka, Wonhee and Iroha as members, ILLIT debuted on March 25th of this year with the mini-album “SUPER REAL ME”, which was accompanied by a video for the title track “Magnetic”, which became a real hit; remember above!
The formation came about through the survival program “RU Next?”, a partnership between HYBE and the South Korean broadcaster JTBC, and in the original composition, it would feature a sixth member, Youngseowho left the group before their debut.
2. TWS
From PLEDIS Entertainment, Twenty Four Seven With, better known by the acronym TWS, debuted on January 22 this year with the mini album titled “Sparkling Blue”, which was promoted through the singles “Oh Mymy: 7s”, released in preparation for the album on January 2nd, and “Plot Twist”.
The formation has six members: Shinyu, Dohoon, Youngjae, Hanjin, Jihoon and Kyungmin.
1. BABYMONSTER
From YG Entertainment, BABYMONSTER revealed the members Ruka, Pharita, Wing, Ahyeon, Ramie, Rora and Chiquitathrough the reality show released on YouTube in 2023, “Last Evaluation”, releasing the pre-debut track on November 27 of the same year, “BATTER UP”. His official debut took place on April 1, 2024, with the song “SHEESH”, title track from the album “BABYMONS7ER”.
EXTRA: ARTMS
One of the most anticipated debuts of the year, ARTMS is made up of members of LOONA. They are: Jinsoul, Haseul, KimLip, Heejin and Choerry, who officially debuted in the lineup through the first full-album “DALL”, released on May 31, 2024, with an MV for the title track “Virtual Angel”.
The group even came to Brazil with a unique show, held on September 17th at Terra SP, in São Paulo, as part of the “ARTMS 2024” world tour.
