With her new book just out, renowned interior designer, Maison founder Sarah Lavoine takes us on a design and inspiration tour of the capital.
“I still admire its beauty, its cultural richness. I like everything here, except the grayness. Paris is a constant source of inspiration for designer Sara Poniatowski, who invites us to her new book Dream, dare, create… and start again. reveals its best addresses in the capital.
My coffee
“In Nemours, I had important meetings, ones that mark and change lives. I often walk in the park of the Palais-Royal and take the opportunity to drink on the sunny terrace of this iconic café overlooking the Comédie-Française.”

My table
“À l’épi d’or” is one of the few authentic shops left in Paris. I eat very little meat, but the best ground steak and potatoes that remind me of my childhood can only be found in this bistro, with its wooded with decor. It’s a warm, unpretentious place, just like chef Jean-Francois Piaget and his wife Elodie.”

My florist
“Green and more flourishes in many boutiques in the neighborhood, including Maison Sarah Lavoine. She knows my preferences perfectly and always creates elegant, simple bouquets in my favorite shades. She prefers French flowers to limit her carbon footprint and is also charming, which is an important asset to the merchant.”

My guilty pleasure
“As soon as I host a dinner party, I go all the way to Paris for the fruit cakes at Petits Mitrons in Montmartre. I don’t like overly complicated cakes, I prefer my grandmother’s recipes, and I would die for their hyper-gourmet, well-caramelized cakes.”

My hotel
“I always recommend Hôtel du Sentier when someone asks me for a human-scale establishment. The building is beautiful, on a tree-lined square. Some rooms open directly onto the glass roof.” .

My garden
“I have lived in the center of Paris for thirty years and I have a weakness for the Tuileries Garden. I imagined a collection of objects for the Louvre, from which the garden hangs. Every season, art gardeners plant flowers there to accompany the museum’s exhibitions.”

It should be mine
“There is nothing sexier than a woman dressed as a man. Husbands Paris’ bespoke pieces are incredible, made from your choice of fabric, in tailoring excellence under the direction of the insanely charismatic designer Nicolas Gabbard.’

My jewelry
“Twenty years ago, my sister Marie created Stone, her jewelry brand. I wear her jewelry every day, including my gold and diamond pendant and cuff from the Organica collection that we designed together. It’s a material which I use a lot in my projects. we wanted our shared story to be told in this collaboration. I love the elegance of Marie, whose creations are easy to wear, never ostentatious. She just released a gorgeous collection with emeralds, her first time working with colored stones.”

My escape
“How can you miss Montfort-L’Amory, a noble little village just forty minutes from Paris, where great artists have lived and resided: Colette, Coco Chanel, Victor Hugo, Maurice Ravel… Everything is beautiful there. I recommend La Minotte, a charming guest house in an old house with a swimming pool for sunny days.”

My headquarters
“The Maison Sarah Lavoine flagship offers a complete experience. It features our collections (lighting, tableware, etc.), our furniture and our wardrobe, made up of luxurious and timeless basics. We also welcome guests to this store, such as Éditions Norma and Seghers. Our LaLa Cuisine restaurant, created by Chef Quentin Domangue, is also delicious.

My museum
“The reopening of the Grand Palais was a wonderful moment, especially for the 2024 editions of Art Basel and Paris Photo. I missed this magical place so much with this unique glass roof. It is an exceptional environment, the exhibition spaces of which have been extended by the corridors above.’

My hairdresser
“David Lucas is a hair architect. I’ve trusted him with my hair for years, and so have my children. It is always the promise of a pleasant moment, with a window opening onto the courtyard, all white tiles and raw wood. Me and David are connected by the pool of Arkakhon, where he grew up and where I spent my holidays. Over the years, he is a close friend It turned out that we have a general concept store in Bordeaux, where he has a salon and I have a boutique.”

My galleries
“I have always loved the work of Maison jaune Studio. Julien and Elodie left the flea markets to open their own gallery. I am a PAD juror (Paris Design Grand Event, Editor’s Note)and every year they have the most beautiful stand. I love their universe, which complements my work, and I focus on materials that I like: wood, rattan, brass… Iconic pieces, timeless pieces, photographs, such as the recent paintings of Benoit Pelletier, which work both in the Parisian interior and in the holiday home.
