Lithuanian film director killed in Mariupol

He was killed with a camera in his hands. The film about Mariupol received international recognition at the Berlin Film Festival.

In Mariupol, Lithuanian film director Mantas Kvedaravichyus was killed due to shelling. Screenwriter Vitaly Mansky wrote it on Facebook.

“Our friend, participant of Artdocfest, Lithuanian documentary filmmaker Mantas Kvedaravičius, was killed today in Mariupol, holding a camera in his hands, in this heinous war of evil, against the whole world. I have seen of some photos where Mantas and I were together at the Artdocfest in Riga, in 2016 we were discussing the documentary filmmaker’s place in the war. Mantas was more and more quiet, and thought, “Mansky noted.

Kvedaravičius died at the age of 45. He is known for his film Mariupoli, which tells about the war in the Donbass and Mariupol’s life in a crisis. The picture has been called “human history against the backdrop of historical turmoil.”
