Lawyers for actress Amber Heard have appealed to US justice to overturn her conviction in the defamation case against her ex-husband Johnny Depp and order a new trial, local media reported.
According to an appeal filed by a group of the actress’s lawyers in the Fairfax, Virginia court on July 1, the actress’s lawyers allege that the recognized damages Depp for publishing an article heard she said, without referring to her ex-husband, that the sexual assault was excessive and was not supported by evidence in court.
They also accuse the protagonist of Pirates of the Caribbean of failing to comply with legal requirements to demonstrate malice, as evidence supports Heard’s view that she was “a victim of mistreatment by Mr. Depp”.
