A character from “Shrek” (2001), Lord Farquaad is smaller than most of the characters in the plot; find out what the character’s estimated height is
A great enemy of the characters that appeared in fairy tales, Lord Farquaad stands out in “Shrek” (2001) for being extremely selfish, authoritarian, manipulative and bad-tempered while he is ruler of the Duloc region.
In the plot, the antagonist also has another striking characteristic: height! This is because the villain is much shorter than any other adult character presented, making his grandeur come across through the objects that surround him, clothing and facial expressions.
How tall is Lord Farquaad?
Farquaad’s height was never revealed by the film’s producer, DreamWorks. However, as reported by the ScreenRant portal, the MUC (Made up characters) Wiki, and several fan sources, estimate that the character is around 4 feet and 6 inches (approx. 1 meter and 37 centimeters).
However, it may be even smaller. Second David FM Vaughnactor who played Lord Farquaad in the American tour of “Shrek the Musical,” the miniature villain was 3 feet tall (approx. 97 centimeters tall) and, if this is the same scale used in the animation, Farquaad is less than a meter high in reality.
The height of the character was difficult for Vaughnas the actor revealed to CBS News that he had to play it on his knees.
I’m not 3 feet tall. I’m actually 6 feet 1 inch. And since Lord Farquaad is… well… ‘vertically challenged’, I do the entire show on my knees. I sing, dance, run and jump, all on my knees. We created something we called ‘the rig’, which is a series of knee pads, wooden blocks, springs and levers that I kneel on, which has the puppet’s legs attached to it. He weighs about 25 pounds. It takes a bit of unique athleticism to do that, but I’m actually very used to it now, it’s quite comfortable.”
More about Lord Farquaad
While capturing fairytale creatures, Lord Farquaad found the magic mirror, which revealed to him that Duloc was not a kingdom. As a result, the villain decided that he needed to marry a princess to ascend the throne, thus organizing a tournament to find a knight who would rescue Princess Fiona from the tower and give him credit for the act, since the story of Lillian’s daughter and Harold had been imprisoned after falling victim to a curse that made her change overnight, and only a true love’s kiss could free her from the spell.
Shrek, an ogre, fulfilled the challenge in exchange for having his swamp free of magical creatures that came out of classic fairy tales. The big problem is that he fell in love with Fiona, and decided to oppose the marriage, entering the ceremony and revealing the whole truth to the princess, who, soon after hearing Shrek’s words, ends up transforming into an ogre, because the sun it was setting.
Upon witnessing the transformation, Farquaad orders Fiona to be arrested again, and Shrek to have his life taken, starting a war. This is because, Shrek uses a whistle to call the female Dragon, who previously guarded the tower, into the palace, who, in addition to breaking the large stained glass window, devours Farquaad, whose death was confirmed at the same moment as the Dragon belches the crown he wore.
