In a recent interview, HYBE once again defended itself over false accusations made after the leak of internal documents
Over the past month, a series of internal documents from the HYBE conglomerate have been leaked to the international media, generating negative reactions from fans around the world to the contents of the published reports, including a series of malicious comments directed at K-pop artists from within and outside the agency.
On October 29, after the documents were first released, HYBE CEO, Lee Jae Sangspoke out for the first time on the subject, apologizing to all artists who felt offended by the contents of the reports.
“As CEO of HYBE, I sincerely apologize regarding the HYBE monitoring document.
This document was created as part of a process to retrospectively gather various public reactions and opinions on industry trends and issues. Although it was intended to be shared only with a limited number of leaders to understand market and fan sentiments, the content was highly inappropriate. The document contained provocative and explicit expressions aimed at K-pop artists, included the author’s personal opinions and assessments, and was preserved in writing. As a company representative, I acknowledge all errors and take full responsibility. I am particularly sorry and distressed by the unfounded suspicions of reverse viral marketing that are not true, causing misunderstanding and harm to innocent artists and individuals.
I formally and respectfully apologize to the outside artists mentioned in the document who have suffered harm and suffering. We are also reaching out to each agency individually to offer our apologies directly. Furthermore, I am also sincerely extending an official apology to all HYBE Music Group artists who have been subjected to criticism due to the company,” the CEO wrote in a statement.
In a recent interview with CBS NoCutNews, the conglomerate once again defended itself on the matter, once again denying the accusations of reverse viral marketing, in addition to clarifying how individual apologies for each company have been made.
“The claim that we use reverse viral marketing is not true. We are considering taking appropriate action regarding the false allegations. We have apologized to each agency of the artists mentioned in the documents over the phone or through official documents under the name of CEO Lee Jae Sang.”
