Fans call for Bang Si Hyuk to step down as HYBE president

Following a recent report from the South Korean portal Ilgan Sports, fans began calling for Bang Si Hyuk to resign as president of HYBE

This Tuesday, the 29th, the South Korean portal Ilgan Sports published a report pointing out the alleged direct involvement of Bang Si Hyukfounder and president of HYBE, in the infamous document revealed last week that had repercussions on social media, with malicious comments related to numerous K-pop artists.

According to the publication, Bang PDas he is also known, would have personally supervised the distribution of the document, being responsible for ordering the report to be sent to a newly appointed executive of the company. Despite the revelation, it is still unclear whether Si Hyuk was the person who initiated the creation of the report.

It is worth remembering that the document, which has 18 thousand pages, was revealed on October 24 during the audit by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee of the National Assembly, and presents a series of malicious comments related to numerous groups in the k-pop industry , including criticism and questions related to the artists’ appearance, their skills on stage, as well as the level and origin of their fame.

After the publication of the Ilgan Sports article, many fans began to call for the resignation of Bang Si Hyukdemanding that the businessman “take responsibility”. Through the South Korean forum OQoo, you can find the following comments:

Apology

This Tuesday, 29th, the CEO of HYBE, Lee Jae Sangshared an official statement through the conglomerate’s website, where it apologizes for the entire controversy, and states that it has contacted each of the companies mentioned in the report to ask for forgiveness individually.

“I deeply apologize to the artists, industry stakeholders and fans,” says the businessman in part of the statement.
