Find out which songs from “Moana 2” were chosen by Disney to compete for an Oscar in the Best Original Song category
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the songs from Moana 2 that will compete for the Oscar have already been chosen by Disney! “Beyond” and “Can I Get a Chee Hoo” will compete for the Best Original Song category, both being composed by Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear.
The first can be classified as a classic studio anthem of self-discovery, generally very common in princess or “coming of age” features, which follow the journey of a young character. The second is a more comical song, which is very similar to “De Nada”, sung by Maui in the first film.
The decision to bet on two songs in the category was strategic, since in the year of “Encanto” the song “Não Falamos do Bruno” ended up not competing for the award as it was not entered.
Release Date and Trailer
So far, few plot details have been revealed, but it is possible to see where the film is going through the teasers and trailer released so far. Next, we will accompany Moana on a new mission, as, after receiving a special call from her ancestors, she will face the distant seas of Oceania to find new people beyond the island where she lives.
In the first teaser, Moana says: “This is a call from my ancestors to sail with other stars and reconnect our people across the ocean.”
However, Moana won’t do it alone. For this adventure, she will once again count on the help of the demigod Maui, as well as her pets, the rooster HeiHei and the pig Pua. More than her old traveling partners, she will also have a new crew.
The animation hits the big screen in Brazil on November 28th; Check out the promotional poster and main trailer below!
