And, in a recent appearance by Eiichiro Oda on TV (via Omelete), the author explained the reason behind the prolonged hiatuses, especially in relation to what occurred more recently.
According to your speech, Oda revealed that he was recently in Cape Town, South Africa, where the recording of the 2nd season of the live action is being done. This “absence” affected the production of the manga, which will only return with new chapters in November, also impacting the development of the anime, which has already exceeded a thousand episodes.
