Elphaba’s interpreter, Cynthia Erivo, expressed dissatisfaction with the editing that distorts one of the “Wicked” posters through text; read!
This Wednesday, the 16th, the actress Cynthia Erivowho plays Elphaba in “Wicked”, demonstrated his dissatisfaction with a montage that began to circulate the web, where, through artificial intelligence (AI), one of the film’s posters came to life in a distorted way.
It turns out that, in the original art, which is a reinterpretation of the Broadway play’s poster, it is possible to see Glenda (Ariana Grande) whispers something in Elphaba’s ear.
In the recreation that uses AI, the characters leave their original position and start a physical fight. Look:
Therefore, Erivo used the Stories tool on Instagram to share his opinion on how technology was used. She wrote:
“This is the most savage and offensive thing I have ever seen, just like that horrible AI of us fighting, like people asking if “her ***** is green?” None of this is funny, none of this is cool, this isn’t cool to me, it’s not cool to us. The original poster is an illustration. I am a human being of flesh and blood, who chose to look into your eye, the viewer, through the center of the camera because, without words, we communicate with our gaze. This poster is a tribute, not an imitation. Editing my face and hiding my eyes is erasing myself. And that is deeply painful.”
Cynthia Erivo reacts to viral fan edit of the ‘WICKED’ poster via Instagram:
“This is the wildest, most offensive thing I have seen, equal to that awful Ai of us fighting, equal to people posing the question “is your ***** green” (…) It degrades me It degrades us The original… pic.twitter.com/aeBf8me4Ko
