For every two managers, staying at the same company means putting their mental health at risk

Increased pressure, generalized exhaustion… The psychological state of employees is a cause for alarm. The government also plans to make mental health a key national issue by 2025. But she’s also looking to save money for sick leave.

Leaving to get better. that’s what the 50% of French managers who think staying at their company puts their mental health at risk seem to be up to. This is what the survey conducted by OpinionWay for Indeed among 1050 employees finds out.

An opinion shared by 47% of under-35s, and more than three managers (37%) beyond. last few years. Managers, in particular, say they are under increasing pressure due to an increasingly pervasive culture of results.

Need rest

While the government is looking to save money on sick leave, two in five workers say they have had to take one in the past twelve months, mainly for physical reasons (20%), but also for psychological reasons or the need to rest, in 10. percentage of cases. And for good reasons. 39% of workers surveyed say they are “often” or “regularly” too exhausted to do much after work.

Above all, 91% of respondents consider demotivation to be responsible for sick leave. That’s almost as much as generalized unhappiness in society, and little more than poor working conditions (84%) or lack of respect from employers (83%).

Increased risk of burns

A very bleak picture, where dissatisfaction often seems to lead to burnout. A third of workers suffer or have suffered from it, again with an over-representation of workers under 35 and managers (43 and 45%). Anxiety that is difficult to cope with. 78% of employees currently experiencing burnout say they feel guilty, and only 10% of them have taken sick leave for mental health reasons in the past 12 months. Many respondents cited a sense of loss of self-confidence or even shame to explain their silence. Proof, if any were needed, that mental health remains a taboo that’s hard to break.
