Céline’s artistic director has just unveiled his latest Spring Summer 2025 collection, inspired by the sixtiesin a poetic video shot at Compiegne Castle.
It’s on a Celine typewriter that a model, with delicate, bejeweled hands, types out the name of the fashion show, “French Summer.” This season will again present Celine’s spring-summer collection, a show point with the public and celebrities, waiting for a crowd of rabid fans, but a sober and elegant video. Since his arrest, the artistic director of the house, Hedi Slimane, has had his models walk in exclusive places, in French monuments such as the Hôtel de la Marine, the Invalides, the National Library or, this time, the Château de Compiègne.
Hence, in the cozy corridors of this former summer residence of the court, transformed by Louis VX, Celine’s models unveil clothes inspired by the designer’s summers in Saint-Tropez, his friendship with Juliette Greco and General, Nico and the Velvet Underground in the 1960s. To the tune of , the models are adorned with a silk hat and their eyes are framed by a beautiful black line. They have a gentle, peaceful gait and sometimes leave the ballroom floor to stroll by the sheep in the estate gardens.
Former sixties fan
The look is imbued with spirit the sixtieswithout ever falling into moth nostalgia. We see the wisdom of the young women intertwined with their mischievous attitude, who nevertheless begin to break free of themselves. This duality is brought to life in the form of short sleeveless dresses, suits, pleated skirts, lavalier-style tops with ribbons, half-embroidered twinsets, as well as short leather jackets, leopard coats. or a pair of cowboy boots.
Among the models is Françoise Hardy in brown fringes, and Jane Birkin in tailored dresses. Some exclusive pieces, such as hand-embroidered silk dresses, crystals, feathers and giant lacquered rhodoid flowers, were made in Céline’s couture workshops.
