Four-time Olympic gold medalist swimmer Leon Marchand spoke on the set of Mouloud Achour about the pros and cons of his new life as a swimming star.

Like Simone Biles, Leon Marchand is one of the athletes who left their mark at the Paris Olympics this summer. A month and a half after the end of the competition, the four-time Olympic champion was a guest of Mulud Achur’s “Clique” show.

“My status has changed”

The Canal+ host took to his ‘Interview Songs’ to quiz the 22-year-old swimmer about his ‘music-crazy’ new life as a swimming star. “My status has changed,” he admitted. And continue. “Camille Lacour said: “You become beautiful after winning.” It’s a sentence that really speaks to me, because now everyone comes to talk to me, whereas two or three years ago, when I was a bit rough, it wasn’t the same,” he said, rousing a sudden group of friends from whom he said that is cautious. “A lot of people are coming, that’s when you have to sort out the people I had before and the people who have just come. But it’s not easy because it happened to me suddenly.”

“I’m going back to the US”

Even if he assures that “life is good” (life is beautiful, French), Léon Marchand also faces the downsides of his popularity and, in particular, the difficulty that walking down the street now presents. “When I’m in Toulouse or Paris, it’s less peaceful when I walk down the street than if I were abroad. That’s why I’m going to go back to the United States so I can have my routine and work quietly again,” he said.
