The interpreter in question is Margot Robbie (“Barbie”). She gave life to the character in the duo of films from the “Suicide Squad” franchise, released in 2016 and 2021, where we are shown a little of the origin of the character’s madness, presented as a psychiatrist, who ends up losing her sanity by diving into a pool of acid. , coming out strong and crazy.

Between the two titles, Robbie also starred in “Birds of Prey – Harley Quinn and her Fantabulous Emancipation” (2020), the first action film featuring only heroines from the DC universe. In the plot, Harley Quinn has just broken up with the Joker (who was actually her patient) and, free from an abusive relationship, she joins Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco), Rosie Perez (Renee Montoya), Black Canary (Jurnee Somollet-Bell) and Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), embarking on a journey full of violence and revenge so that everyone can free themselves from those who have power over them.

In this film, in addition to acting, it is worth highlighting that the actress also appears in the credits as a producer, as she, alongside her partners, Tom Ackerley and Josie McNamaraowns LuckyChap, which took over production of the feature film.

Even though it opened up the journey of interpretations for the character, Robbie states that there are several possible ways to bring Harley Quinn to live-action productions, having even celebrated the casting of Gaga in an interview with Variety magazine in January this year, stating that “I always wanted Harley Quinn to be a character passed on to other actresses to play”.

“Harlequin is a lot of fun and can go in so many different directions. You put it in someone else’s hands and think, ‘What are they going to do with it?’ The options are endless,” he added.

Exploring the possibilities of different portrayals of Harley Quinn, Gaga stated at another time that his interpretation of the character in theaters will be unique: “My version of Harley Quinn is Lee (…) I had brilliant moments. In many ways, I think it will be a very different Lee for everyone, and I’m excited to see the story we want to tell being seen,” said the actress in an interview (via Omelete).

My version of Harley Quinn is mine, and it’s very authentic to the film and the characters,” Gaga explained to Access Hollywood (via Omelete). “I’ve never done anything like what I’m doing in this film,” she added.

This new Harley Quinn can be seen starting next Thursday, the 3rd, the date on which “Joker: Delirium for Two” opens in national cinemas. Remember the trailer:
