The animation that was included in the Pixar Theory even though it wasn’t from the studio

According to the Pixar Theory, there is a specific film that was not directed by the studio, but that fits into the timeline; find out which one!

According to the Pixar Theory, created in 2013 by the writer and journalist Jon Negroniall of the studio’s films are connected in a large timeline. However, there is one film in particular that was not directed by Pixar, but which has a certain connection with the theory because it is a spin-off of one of the studio’s most famous productions.

“Planes”, released in September 2013 by DisneyToon Studios, is a spin-off of the “Cars” franchise, as it presents very noticeable similarities between the characters, not to mention the fact that they are all means of transportation. In addition, the plot also has the same premise in the storyline, as both protagonists seek victory in air and car races.

Regarding the connection between the animations, the Pixar Theory says that the two films have a direct connection based on a specific scene, where it is possible to see a photo of Lightning McQueen in a physical newspaper that appears in “Planes”.

John Lasseterchief creative officer of Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios, who directed the first two “Cars” films and was behind the concept and executive production of “Planes”, explains why audiences easily believe that both films are from Pixar:

“‘Planes’ was supposed to be a direct-to-TV animation, which explains why Pixar didn’t produce the film.”

Still according to LasseterDisneyToon Studios was intended only to produce sequels to films that would not be sold to theaters, such as “Tinker Bell and the Never Monster” and “Cinderella III: A Twist in Time”. The same would have happened with “Planes” if the animation had not achieved worldwide success at the time of its release in 2013.

Currently, both the “Cars” and “Planes” franchises are available on Disney+.
