Rapper Jessi has announced that she is starting her own independent record label, with a focus on expanding her career and sharing her own music.
Last Thursday, 19th, the rapper Jessi announced that she is founding “Unni”, her own independent record label. Through a profile and posts dedicated to the new brand, she expresses her gratitude to her fans, as well as explaining the meaning behind the chosen name:
I would like to express my utmost gratitude to my JEBBIES. You have been there for me through my ups and downs. It took a while, but we are finally here, baby! I am excited to announce my new independent record label, Unni.
‘Unni’ means an elder sister who will always take care of you. She taught you how to do makeup, introduced you to good music and how to express yourself. But most importantly, she taught you that no one will respect you if you don’t respect yourself.
When I finally decided to start my own company, there was no better name for it. Unni is the big sister company where I can share my music and more. Thanks for always holding me down, jebbies! I hope I can do the same for you! I can’t wait to share my new chapter. Unni loves you!
On the same day, record label DOD (Day One Dream) also revealed that Jessi had signed a management contract with them, with expectations of expanding his activities as a soloist.
The last comeback of Jessi happened in April 2024 with the single “No Lowkey”, a partnership with rappers YUNGIN and CAMO; listen and watch the MV!
