Remember the girl group from the 2000s that debuted under the subsidiary of SM Entertainment, but that today many K-pop fans unfortunately don’t remember
Throughout its history, SM Entertainment has launched countless memorable girl groups in the K-pop industry, including names such as SES, Girls’ Generation, f(x), Red Velvet, aespa and GOT the Beat, a girl group formed by idols from different groups within the company.
As part of the “Big 3”, a group of the main entertainment companies in South Korea, it is extremely common for a good part of SM’s artists to be well known by the public, due to the agency’s high investment in promotion strategies.
However, there is a girl group launched by the company in the early 2000s that, nowadays, almost no one remembers — and RECREIO is going to introduce you to it now!
Forgotten girlgroup?
The group in question is MILK (Made In Lovely Kin), which debuted through the now-defunct SM subsidiary, BM Entertainment, in 2001. Composed of four members, Heebon, Yumi, Hyunjin and Bomithe group debuted with the title track “Come to Me”, from the album “With Freshness”, which became the only one of their career.
In 2002, the group was nominated in the “Best New Group” category at the Mnet Asian Music Awards, known today as the MAMA Awards, but they did not take home the award.
According to the South Korean newspaper JoongAng Ilbo, after the end of the promotions for the first album, MILK began preparing their second album, where the song “Into the New World”, which ended up becoming Girls’ Generation’s debut track in 2007, would be the title track.
Unfortunately, all planning ended up being cancelled in 2003 when Yumi decided to leave the group, leading to their separation. Since then, the members gave up on their idol careers, and the four opted to focus on acting.
Heebonthe oldest, has worked as an actress since 2005, and has starred in projects such as “Master’s Sun” (2013), “Goblin” (2016), “Top Management” (2018), “Happiness” (2021) and “Project Silence” (2024). Yumiwhich is also known as Jessica Baeparticipated in productions such as “Winter Child” (2005), “Secret Campus” (2006) and “Eight Broken Fingers” (2007), but has already retired from the entertainment industry.
Like this Yumiafter the end of the group, Bomi starred in titles such as “Dangerous Love” (2006), “Unforgettable Love” (2006) and “A Pharisee” (2014), but today she no longer works in the entertainment industry. Finally, the maknae Hyunjin has managed to become a big name in the world of k-dramas, participating in hits such as “Another Miss Oh” (2016), “Dr. Romantic” (2016–2017), “The Beauty Inside” (2018), “Why Her” (2022) and others.
