‘Coco’ is full of references to other Pixar films — and some of them you barely notice
The presence of Easter eggs in Pixar films has become a trademark of the studio, and with “Coco” it could not be different. The animation, which shows Miguel’s adventure in the Land of the Dead, in the middle of the Day of the Dead, contains several references to other Pixar films, in addition to the classics, such as the Luxo ball and A113. But before checking out some of these Easter eggs, remember the trailer!
1. Woody, Buzz and Mike Wazowski dolls
In one of the moments when Miguel is passing by the fair that takes place in the city, we can see that there are some piñatas for sale, which are dolls filled with candy that children hit until they break at parties. It is possible to see that there are piñatas in the shape of Woody and Buzz, the main characters of “Toy Story”, and also in the shape of Mike Wazowski, a character from “Monsters Inc”.
2. Did Sid die?
There is a great theory about Sid, the neighbor who destroyed toys in “Toy Story”, due to an easter egg in “Coco”. It all came about thanks to a skeleton who participates in the talent show, and is wearing a shirt identical to the one Sid appears wearing in “Toy Story”. Therefore, the theory says that the boy died between the third and fourth film of the toys, since in the penultimate film of this Pixar franchise, the man who works collecting the trash is wearing this same shirt, which many ended up concluding that it was him.

3. The Incredibles
In one of the scenes where Miguel and Hector are walking through the Land of the Dead, you can see a poster for the movie “The Incredibles”. It is worth remembering that the animation about the typical Mexican party came out in 2017, and the following year, “The Incredibles 2” was released, so the presence of this Easter egg could be a clue about the new movie about the superhero family.

4. Pizza Planet Car
Another classic Pixar Easter egg is the famous Pizza Planet truck. The delivery vehicle became famous in “Toy Story” and has since appeared in all of the studio’s productions. Right at the beginning of the film, we can see the truck passing by in a scene where Miguel is looking out the window at the street.

5. John Ratzenberger
Few people know, but the actor John Ratzenberger appears in every Pixar film to date. In the case of “Coco” he appears as the skeleton of Juan Ortodoncia, who is leaving the Land of the Dead to cross the bridge and enjoy the Day of the Dead in the world of the living.
