Ahead of the resumption of the so-called “Mazan rape” trial, Gisele Pellicote thanked the protesters who mobilized this weekend and sent a message of support to victims of sexual violence around the world.
While his name and face have been on the front page of the international press for several weeks, his words are rare. But this Monday, September 16, the day after the protests against sexist and sexual violence in France, Giselle Pellicot broke her silence.
“Because of you I have the strength to fight this fight”
“I would like to thank all the people who have shown me their support since the beginning of this ordeal, and especially those who took the time to meet last Saturday across France. I was deeply moved by this momentum that gives me responsibility,” she confided in front of microphones and several media cameras, shortly before the retrial of her ex-husband, Dominic Pellicote, and fifty other men who raped her for ten years.
“Thank you all, I have the strength to fight this fight until the end. this fight, which I dedicate to all people, women and men, who are victims of sexual violence all over the world,” he continued. And to conclude. “I want to tell all these victims today. “Look around you, you are not alone.”
Finding out from justice that the trial of her ex-husband and his many attackers will not be held behind closed doors, 71-year-old Giselle Pellicote has inadvertently become a leading figure in the fight against sexist and sexual violence. But due to the health condition of Dominique Pellicote, who is suffering from a “kidney infection”, the trial, which was adjourned until 9 am on September 17, could be postponed.
