5 Pixar Villains With Sad Origin Stories

Discover what happened in the past of these 5 Pixar villains and how it influenced the emergence of the evil they carry

With actions that cause pain or difficulty to the main characters, the selfish attitudes of the villains are not always incomprehensible, after all, the origin stories of many of these antagonists reveal that they had a difficult past, which became partly responsible for the change in the way the world was seen by them, as seen in the live-action stories of “Joker” (2019) and “Maleficent” (2014), where the public was able to understand where the antagonistic personality of the two came from in the stories of Batman and Princess Aurora, respectively.

In animation, one of the studios that constantly reveals the villains’ backstories is Pixar, showing what happened years before these characters caused harm to toys, sought revenge against heroes and even put the lives of members of royalty in danger.

With this in mind, RECREIO has put together a list of 5 Pixar villains whose events became the main point for the origin of the villainy they portray on the big screen; see:

Introduced in “Toy Story 3” as the boss of the toys at Sunnyside Daycare, Lotso appeared as a loving pink teddy bear, but surprised everyone when he revealed the evil side he carried, controlling toys and humiliating them.

In the film, it is revealed that Lotso was actually the loving bear he appeared to be, but everything changed when he ended up forgotten by the child who adopted him as a toy. He still manages to return to the home where he participated in the various games with the girl, but upon arriving, he realized that he had been replaced, turning the pain he felt at seeing that he had been replaced into energy to punish anyone who, like him, just wanted to be loved.

2. Gabby Gabby

From “Toy Story 3”, Gabby Gabby is a vintage doll from the 1950s, who lived in an antique store and who, pretending to help Woody find Betty, planned at any cost to steal the cowboy’s voice box.

Throughout the film, it is revealed that she has lived in that establishment for many years because her voice box no longer worked, and no child wanted a “broken” toy. Wanting to be loved again and included in various games, Gabby Gabby then finds herself willing to sacrifice Woody’s voice in an attempt to be noticed by Harmony, the granddaughter of the antique store owner.

3. Stinky Pete

A member of “Woody’s Rodeo” alongside Woody, Jessie and Bullseye, Stinky Pete, like Lotso and Gabby Gabby, was kind at first, but when he realized that his plan to become a collector’s item and be admired by many could go wrong, he ended up revealing himself to be a true villain by creating a trap to imprison Woody and his friends.

Still, Pete was so desperate to keep all the characters from the old TV show together that, since it was released, he had never been taken out of the box and, consequently, had never received the love of a child, that the idea of becoming a member of a toy collection was the best future he could imagine for himself.

4. Evelyn Deavor

The main antagonist of “The Incredibles 2”, Evelyn Deavor was the mastermind behind the plan to keep Supers illegal. The character had this mission because her and her brother Winston’s father, Mr. Deavor, died due to trusting superheroes too much, since, when his house was invaded by thieves, he decided to call two heroes instead of hiding. Due to the loss, Evelyn came to believe that Supers were a danger to society, since they made her dependent, and she began to hate them.

It turns out that Mor’du was a human prince who gained this form after seeking out a witch and making a request: that she give him a potion that would give him the strength to end his three younger brothers, since, after the death of his father, he ended up having his plans frustrated when he learned that, even though he was the oldest, he would not be the only king, since he would have to share command of the kingdom with his brothers.
