Emi Shinohara, an anime voice actress famous for her roles in ‘Sailor Moon’ and ‘Naruto,’ passed away at the age of 61 last weekend.
Emi Shinoharaa Japanese anime voice actress known for her roles in “Sailor Moon” and “Naruto”, passed away at the age of 61 last Sunday, August 8. The cause of death was not disclosed by her agency after confirmation, but, during the last few days, the professional was undergoing treatment for an undisclosed illness.
Her first contact with dubbing happened in 1986, with the anime “Dream Hunter Realm”. However, it was only in 1992 that her voice began to be widely recognized by the public, as she was the one who gave life to the character Makoto Kino (Sailor Venus) in the adaptation of “Sailor Moon”. Already at the beginning of the 21st century, Emi gained even more prominence when she voiced Kushina Uzumaki, Naruto’s mother.
Already in foreign animations, Shinohara was responsible for lending her voice to Lurleen Lumpkin from “The Simpsons”, Penelope Pussycta from “Looney Tunes” and Rita from “Animaniacs. Her husband, Hiroshi Watarialso shared a post on social media lamenting what happened.
