Between girl groups and boy groups; discover details about some of the k-pop groups that debuted in the music industry this year!
Over the past nine months, fans of South Korean pop music have been very well served, after all, in the past 270 days, they have been able to see long-awaited comebacks, new single and album releases, concerts by different idols and groups around the world — and of course, the arrival of new formations that, with their debut this year, were able to shine the fifth generation of K-pop.
With different concepts and voices, these new male and female groups have different reasons for gaining the spotlight and the hearts of fandoms. Therefore, RECREIO has put together a list with the main information about 5 of them that debuted in 2024 and that you need to know; check it out:
1. TWS
Formed by PLEDIS Entertainment, SEVENTEEN’s company, Twenty Four Seven With, better known by the acronym TWS, is composed of six members. They are: Shinyu, Dohoon, Youngjae, Hanjin, Jihoon and Kyungmin.
The group released the pre-release single, “Oh Mymy: 7s”, on January 2, exactly 20 days before their official debut, which was released with the promotion of the mini album entitled “Sparkling Blue”, which came composed of six tracks; listen!
2. NCT Wish
With promotions focused on Japan, NCT Wish is the newest unit of NCT. The group, which has Zion, Riku, Yushi, Daeyoung, Ryo and Sakuyaas members, was formed by the reality show NCT Universe: LASTART, from SM Entertainment, and their debut was the release of the single “Wish”, which featured the soloist Good behind all the details of the song.
It is worth remembering that, last Monday, the 9th, the formation released a MV for the pre-release track, “Dunk Shot” (see the MV above), which precedes the first mini-album in the group’s discography, “Steady”, which will arrive on music streaming platforms on September 24th, bringing as one of its tracks the Korean version of the group’s pre-debut song, “Hands Up”, which received an MV on October 19th of last year; remember!
3. ARTMS
Formed by the company MODHAUS, ARTMS is made up of five members of LOONA: Jinsoul, Haseul, Kim Lip, Heejin and Choerry. The quintet pre-released several tracks, such as “Birth”, “Flower Rythm” and “Candy Crush”, before making their official debut with the formation’s first full-length album, “DALL”, which was released on May 31, 2024, with a music video for the title track “Virtual Angel”.

4. ILLIT
From BeLift Lab, ILLIT emerged through the survival program “RU Next?”, a partnership between HYBE and South Korean broadcaster JTBC, and has Yunah, Minju, Moka, Wonhee and Iroha as members. The formation should also include Youngseoa trainee who ended up leaving the group before their debut.
The quintet debuted on March 25th of this year, with the mini-album “SUPER REAL ME”, accompanied by the title track that became a hit “Magnetic”; remember above!
5. MEOVV
THEBLACKLABEL’s first girl group, MEOVV is the newest group on the list! Responsible for presenting Gawon, Sooin, Anna, Narin and Ella As idols, the group debuted on August 6 with the single “MEOW”, which was released alongside an MV.
