BTS’ Suga wins summary acquittal after electric scooter incident

BTS’ Suga has been granted summary acquittal by prosecutors following his recent controversy involving driving an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol.

This Tuesday, the 10th, the incident of Sucksof BTS, involving driving an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol has finally reached a conclusion. According to the Seoul Western District Prosecutors’ Office, the idol was granted a Summary Acquittal, which dispenses with the need for a formal trial, possibly resulting in only a fine.

The exact amount of the alleged fine has not yet been revealed, but according to the Highway Traffic Law in South Korea, anyone driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or higher is subject to a fine of between ₩5.00 million Won (about R$20,148) and ₩10.0 million Won (about R$40,240).

Suga’s case was covered by South Korean and international media throughout August, after security camera footage was released online, showing the moment the idol falls to the ground and is intercepted by a police officer on the night of August 6.

He is currently still serving his mandatory military service as a social worker, adopting a non-active role, probably due to the traffic accident he suffered in 2012, which could make it impossible for him to fulfill his duties as an active soldier.
