Discover some theories that were created by different fans, but had their veracity confirmed by Pixar studios
Over the years, Pixar animations have presented audiences with different stories, with memorable plots and characters, responsible for marking the lives of thousands of people around the world.
Due to the complexity of their scripts, something that is always related to the films released by the studio are the famous theories, with the most popular being the “Pixar Theory”, created by the journalist Jon Negroni in 2013, and which connects the films, stating that all the titles coexist in the same universe — something that was confirmed by the studio in 2017.
Like this Negronimany fans from different parts of the world also use all their creativity to create countless theories that can explain certain points of the stories that ended up not being very well explained in the plots.
Although some of them don’t make much sense to many, certain hypotheses have already been confirmed by Pixar itself — and RECREIO will present 5 of them to you now. Check it out!
1. The heroes of ‘The Incredibles’ have different powers when they are young
In “The Incredibles 2,” the powers of Jack-Jack, the youngest of the Parr family, finally manifest themselves. However, the surprising thing is that, instead of the little one emerging with just one special ability, he develops 17 powers, causing some people to believe that he is an alien.
However, a fan theory has explained the phenomenon, suggesting that in the world of ‘The Incredibles’, when they are younger, every superhero displays a wide range of special abilities, with their main power only becoming established as they mature. Brad Birddirector of the franchise, confirmed the hypothesis to YouTuber Seamus Gormanstating that, in the story, the heroes’ powers are allegories to their roles in the family, something you only discover when you’re older.
2. The monsters in ‘Monsters Inc.’ lived with humans
In the fan community, there are numerous theories that seek to explain the relationship between the monsters of ‘Monsters Inc.’ and humans, with many claiming that the universes coexist in different dimensions, linked through the doors used in the films.
Others point out that, in fact, the two species exist in the same dimension, but in secret. Through a behind-the-scenes DVD, it was revealed that the monsters and humans once lived together, but after a disagreement, the mystical beings expelled the humans from the region.
3. The human species was wiped out from the ‘Cars’ universe
Have you noticed that in ‘Cars’ we don’t see any humans? The absence of this species has generated a lot of speculation among fans, leading to the theory that, at some point, humans existed in the universe presented in the animations, but ended up extinct for some reason.
The Pixar Theory, by Jon Negronipoints out that the cars themselves exterminated the humans, in a kind of “revolt of the machines”. In an interview with ScreenCrush, the creative director of the franchise, Jay Wardconfirmed that, in this universe, at a certain point, cars became so intelligent that they ended up realizing that they no longer needed the presence of humans.
4. Riley from ‘Inside Out’ is in ‘Finding Dory’
Pixar is extremely famous for its countless Easter eggs. In addition to classic references, such as the yellow ball and the Pizza Planet car, the studio also often includes characters from different animations in different films, leaving fans intrigued.
In “Finding Dory”, in the scene that shows a group of children in the aquarium, it is possible to see a girl with characteristics similar to Riley, the protagonist of “Inside Out”. Through a video shared on Facebook, the studio confirmed that the girl is the main character in the film about emotions.
5. Buzz Lightyear freezes near humans on instinct
In the first “Toy Story” movie, Buzz Lightyear firmly believes that he is a real space ranger, and not a toy like the others. The curious thing is that, just like Woody, Slinky, Mr. Potato Head and the others, whenever a human comes near him he freezes, pretending to be inanimate, making fans wonder: if he doesn’t believe he is a toy, why does he freeze?
For some, the only plausible explanation is that, as a toy, Buzz would have a kind of instinct that makes him have this attitude automatically. This hypothesis was confirmed by Lee Unkrichdirector of “Toy Story 3” through X (formerly Twitter), where he stated that the doll does this because it is an “involuntary instinct”.
