Joaquin Phoenix Reveals Why He Didn’t Make ‘Joker 3’

In a recent press conference, Joaquin Phoenix revealed the reason why he has no interest in returning to the role of Joker after ‘Delirium a Dois’

During a press conference for “Joker: Delirium for Two”, held at the 2024 Venice Film Festival, the actor Joaquin Phoenixresponsible for bringing the protagonist to life, revealed that he will not participate in a possible third film in the franchise, due to the weight loss process he needs to go through to bring the Joker to life.

“I won’t go into the specifics of my diet, but this time it was more complicated than the last, also because I was doing dance rehearsals at the same time as I had to lose a lot of weight,” Phoenix explained. “I’m 49, so I probably shouldn’t do it again. I think it’s just too much time for me.”

Todd Phillipsdirector of the production, agreed with the star’s speech, and added that he would also not accept returning for a new film about the Clown Prince of Crime.

“For me, Arthur’s story has been told with these films. And as for continuing in the superhero space, I don’t think so. Everything I do is dictated by the opportunity to work with actors I love, so I can’t say ‘never.’ But I don’t see myself continuing here,” said the filmmaker.

With its premiere scheduled for October 3rd, in addition to Joaquin Phoenix“Joker: Delirium for Two” will also feature Lady Gaga as the protagonist, playing Harley Quinn, Joker’s romantic partner. Other actors who will make up the cast are: Harry Lawtey, Zazie Beetz, Ken Leung, Brendan Gleeson, Steve Coogan and Catherine Keener.
