INTERVIEW – Self-confidence, perseverance, teamwork… These “soft skills” that are necessary in adult life can be acquired from childhood. This is what entrepreneur Solenn Beauquillon-Le Goasiou explains in his book Prepare your children today for the world of tomorrow.
Ask any parent about their child’s schooling and they will probably say, “He’s good at math, but harder at spelling.” Few will emphasize their child’s human skills, such as the ability to solve problems, think critically, or be curious. However, we know that good academic results will not be enough to lead a fulfilling career.
Solenn Beauquillon-Le Goaziou, founder of Soft Kids, an app designed to increase children’s chances of success and well-being by developing their social-behavioral skills, believes: it is not the diplomas that will help the adults of tomorrow to get jobs, but what we call soft skills (self-confidence, ability to work in a group, empathy, etc.). In his book Prepare your children today for the world of tomorrow (Ed. De Boeck Supérieur), entrepreneur and mother of twins, invites parents to refrain from their children’s academic performance and pass on everything else to them from an early age.
