Fans have come up with some theories about the possible futures of Pixar character 22 on Earth.

If you’ve seen Pixar’s “Soul,” which was released in 2020, you know that at the end, soul 22 discovers, after a long time, what her motivation is for going to Earth. Thus, the animation ends with her jumping towards the planet to be able to incarnate in a new life.
But who did 22 become?
There is a theory among Pixar fans that 22 could be Mei Lee, the protagonist of the film “Red: Growing Up is a Beast”. This is due to some coincidences between the characters, with the biggest clue being related to their personalities. 22 is quite rebellious, an attribute that we can see in Mei after she rebels against her mother, and they are both quite independent.
Another common point is that, when 22 is going to Earth, it appears that she will fall in some region of China, which is the country of origin of Mei Mei’s family.
“Red: Growing Up is a Beast” was released in 2022, thus becoming another point of a possible connection between the films, since 22 may be referring to the year of release of Mei Lee’s animation.
But there are other theories that point to other Pixar characters. However, before finding out what the other possibilities are for 22, it is necessary to understand some things, such as the fact that in the film we do not know if the plane of souls respects the same time as Earth. In other words, it is possible that 22 went to the past, present or future.
Another point to be raised is that 22 did not necessarily fall in some region of Asia, as shown in the film. She may have gone to another country, as it is also possible to see that other souls are going to different places.
Thus, one of the characters that 22 may have become is Riley, from “Inside Out” (2015). This theory also has two points: one is that the film about emotions begins at the exact moment Riley is born, being a kind of continuation of “Soul”. Meanwhile, the second is that both characters have a lot of energy and are a little stubborn.
Another character that 22 may have become is Ellie from “Up” (2009), since we follow the character’s entire life, and discover that she loves living adventures and enjoying life intensely, something that 22 ended up learning from Joe, becoming her motivation to go to Earth.
It is worth noting that both “Soul”, “Inside Out” and “Up” were produced by Pete Doctertherefore, a direct connection between the films is not impossible, as the director may have done this on purpose.
There is one more possibility: 22 is the 22nd soul created in the universe, and that is where the time relationship comes in. If she is destined to be one of the first people in the world, as soon as she goes to Earth, she will go to the past, to the prehistoric era. And the oldest Pixar film — according to the timeline — is “The Good Dinosaur” (2015). Therefore, it is possible that 22 is Spot, the little human in the film, since souls do not have a defined gender.
